Nowlan Park capacity reduced for league final

April 25, 2013
The capacity of Nowlan Park has been capped at 23,000 for Sunday week's Allianz Hurling League final between Kilkenny and Tipperary.

The Kilkenny city venue, which has undergone major improvements in the past decade, can accommodate over 30,000, but its capacity for the league decider has been significantly reduced for health and safety reasons. It means that only 5,000 terrace tickets will be available, with the ground having seated accommodation for 18,000.

Holders Kilkenny have home advantage for the final due to a home-and-away arrangement with Tipperary. When the neighbouring counties last met in the final in 2009, the match was played at Semple Stadium, and Tipp have now agreed to return the favour.
