SF challenge: Dubs continue winning ways
April 22, 2013
Dublin warmed up for next Sunday's Allianz Football League final against Tyrone with a 2-16 to 0-18 victory over Galway in a challenge match which marked the official opening of the Round Tower club's new facilities in Clondalkin on Saturday evening.
Bernard Brogan bagged 1-2 in a game that remained in the balance until Paul Mannion's second half goal sealed victory for the home side. The Leinster champions led by 1-8 to 0-10 at the interval, but fell behind to points from Michael Meehan and Conor Doherty before U21 star Mannion's strike settled it.
Afterwards, Dublin manager and Round Tower clubman Jim Gavin revealed that there has been no outcome yet of the appeal taken by the Dublin player charged with biting Donegal's Paddy McBrearty last month.
"There is a process there to take place and we all need that due process to take place," he explained to the Irish Examiner.
"We haven't heard any word back from the CCCC (Central Competitions Control Committee) on the hearing so I don't know when that is going to take place. The process is on-going."
