Healy blow for Laois footballers

Laois dual player Cahir Healy is understood to have defected from the football squad.
According to today's Irish Independent, the player has informed Justin McNulty and his SF backroom team that he'll be focussing solely on the county hurlers for the rest of the year.
The Portlaoise clubman lined out at centre forward for the hurlers on Monday as they lost to Westmeath at Mullingar in Division 2A and was also on duty for the footballers on Saturday as they inflicted an eight-point defeat on Galway at O'Moore Park.
Corner back Healy didn't finish that game as he picked up a second yellow card and it now appears that will be his last appearance on the intercounty football stage this year.
Healy has long shown a strong commitment to both codes but now joins the likes of Damien Cahalane, Eoin Cadogan and Ciaran Kilkenny in choosing one over the other.
The difference being that Healy has opted for the small-ball game, much to Seamus Plunkett's obvious relief...
