Owens appeal on the cards

Fermanagh's Barry Owens
Peter Canavan hinted that Fermanagh may appeal the red card Barry Owens received during last weekend's win over Cavan.
The two-time All Star full back was sent off on a straight red card just six minutes after his introduction as a substitute for an alleged kicking offence. Cavan also had wing back Damian O'Reilly dismissed in the early stages, while Fermanagh finished the game with 12 men after Marty O'Brien and Declan McClusker were also sent to the line late on following separate incidents.
"I haven't seen the DVD, but there didn't appear to be that much in it," the Fermanagh boss said of the Owens sending off afterwards.
"I haven't spoken to Barry yet about it, but we're going to have a lot at it and if we feel it didn't merit a sending off, then we will certainly be appealing it."
Canavan felt the four red and seven yellow cards brandished by referee Marty Duffy ruined the game as a spectacle.
"It spoiled the game somewhat, the sendings off and the yellow cards," he continued in the Fermanagh Herald.
"They had a man gone after seven minutes and this was a big turning point in the game, so when Cavan reflect on the fact that if they had a full complement of players, I am sure they will believe the outcome would have been different."
