Kilkenny's Eddie Brennan with Noel Hickey
Kilkenny football manager Christy Walsh is eyeing up some All-Ireland medallists...

The Noresiders are back i training and will return to the intercounty stage in June to participate in the British junior football championship. Walsh intends to get in touch with the likes of Noel Hickey, Eddie Brennan, Michael Kavanagh and James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick, who have 29 All-Ireland senior hurling medals between them.

Former Kerry and Munster dual star Walsh confirms in this week's Kilkenny People: "All the former Kilkenny senior hurlers can expect a call.

"The word was we had 25 All-Ireland medal winners but we haven't seen any of them yet. Expect them when you see them is my philosophy.

"I would be hopeful that some of them might join us. It would be nice. It would be a show of interest in Kilkenny football.

"The game is at the bottom at the moment. There are plenty of good footballers there. The main problem is a lack of practice at the right time in the season.

"There appears to be a theory that if you play football you will end up injured for hurling. A lot of Kilkenny players are injured at the moment and they haven't kicked a football."
