Slevin: Coolderry collapse a lesson to us

Ciaran Slevin doesn't want Kilcormac/Killoughey to suffer the same fate as Coolderry did 12 months ago in Sunday's AIB All-Ireland club hurling final.

The Offaly Hurler of the Year is hoping to cap a memorable campaign for Kilcormac/Killoughey by beating fellow first-time county champions St. Thomas' in the Tommy Moore Cup decider at Croke Park. But he is well aware that a below-par performance like that which Coolderry produced last year against Loughgiel Shamrocks won't be good enough.

"We are not going to get carried away," he stressed in the Midland Tribune.

"We saw Coolderry going to Croke Park last year. They hurled super all year long, but just didn't produce it on the day and we are hoping the same thing doesn't happen to us.

"We haven't thought a lot about an All-Ireland. Even the last day against Thurles (Sarsfields). It was the furthest thought from my mind, we were just focused on the match."
