Charlie Redmond's fire crew saved a one-year-old girl's life yesterday.

It was all part of just another day on the job for the Dublin GAA legend and his fire-station colleagues as they saved the baby girl, who was choking on a 20 cent coin.

The baby's mother rushed to North Strand Fire Station at 9am yesterday, where station officer Alan Dillon, firefighter Damien Guilfoyle and trained paramedic Timmy Doyle took control of the potentially-fatal situation.

The latter managed to dislodge the coin from the child's throat in an ambulance en route to Temple Street Children's Hospital.

Dublin's 1995 All-Ireland winning hero Redmond said: "This is a job we're trained to do, although thankfully what happened isn't something we see that often. But when it does happen you do see very clearly the benefit of the training and having highly trained professionals to deal with things."
