News of the passing of Seamus Coughlan has been greeted with much sadness in Cork GAA circles.

A substitute on the 1973 All-Ireland winning Cork team, the late Mr Coughlan was the Cork GAA Clubs' Draw Manager for the past 16 years.

He scored one of the goals in Nemo Rangers' first ever county championship title success in 1972 and his medal collection included an additional four Cork SFC souvenirs.

The former Army officer was also a member of the All-Ireland club winning sides of 1973, 1982 and '84.

In 1971 he played in both All-Ireland minor finals when the footballers lost to Mayo and the hurlers defeated Kilkenny.

His removal will take place tonight at 8.30pm from O'Sullivan's Funeral Home, Turner's Cross to the Church of The Incarnation, Frankfield.

Funeral mass on Tuesday at 12 noon followed by burial in St John's Cemetery, Ballinrea (Carrigaline).

As a mark of respect, the offices of Cork County Board at Pairc Ui Chaoimh and Pairc Ui Rinn will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) and the County Board meeting scheduled for tomorrow night has been postponed for one week.
