The performance of referee Barry Cassidy in Newry on Saturday came in for criticism from both Mickey Harte and James McCartan.
Tyrone boss Harte complained to The Irish News about the lack of consistency in some of the Derry official's decisions.
"From both perspectives, we'll always talk about refereeing and we'll talk about consistency and I certainly didn't see it tonight.
"I'll challenge anybody to look at a video of that game and tell me that decisions were delivered consistently.
"That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying who was favoured when and where, but the decisions were not consistent."
When it was put to Down boss James McCartan that Cassidy's performance was 'inconsistent' he replied: "You can describe it any way you want. I have other words for it but I'll keep them to myself."
