Murdered Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe was a well known GAA figure in Louth and Cavan
Adrian played for the Crosserlough club, one time kingpins of Cavan football and was an outstanding minor and under 21 for the Breffni county. Described by many as a Gentle Giant.
He belonged to a family of 6 children, 3 of whom joined the Gardai
Adrian spent all of his working life in Dundalk Garda Station. He was on escort duty circa 9.30 Friday night to the nearby Credit Union offices at Bellurgan, just inside the Cooley Peninsula, when he was shot dead.
Ironically Bellurgan is in the St Pats, Louth senior football champions for the past number of years, catchment area and Adrian had helped out with underage coaching at the club.
Our sincerest condolences to the family of the Kilnaleck man
Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
