Tierney returning home

MJ Tierney Laois
Laois forward MJ Tierney has transferred back to his home club Ballyroan Abbey from Dublin outfit Parnells.

Ballyroan Abbey chairman Eamon Mulhall informed The Herald: "We had a meeting [on Monday night] and the word came through that the transfer was signed, that he is coming back to Ballyroan Abbey.

"The club is delighted because we were fairly depleted in the past few years ... he is one of the main players and is performing well with the county at the moment.

Mulhall added: "I'd say his heart is in the local club and that is why he is coming back."

Tierney transferred to Parnells for work reasons and has played his club football with the northside outfit for the past three years.

A spokesperson for the Dublin club revealed that a transfer request had yet to be received by the club.
