Moyna: training to games ratio is appalling

Professor Niall Moyna
DCU's Niall Moyna has issued a warning about the danger of over-coaching in the GAA.
The Monaghan native is currently putting the finishing touches to holders DCU's Sigerson Cup preparations before linking up with James McCartan and Down as the Mourne County's trainer.
He worked with Dublin during Pat Gilroy's time at the helm.
"I think Down have only done four training sessions and my view to James is if I can't get those guys fit for Championship in eight weeks, I'm not worth it," he told The Irish Examiner.
"I believe we are spending far, far too much time training. The ratio of training to games is appalling and has to be addressed.
"We have to reduce collective training as much as we can. We've a lot of injuries but it's a nice problem to have to be involved with a Division 1 team and a team of the quality of DCU."
