Wicklow footballer Paudge McWalter is looking forward to resurrecting his intercounty career after a three year absence due to a serious knee injury.
The St Patrick's clubman suffered a horrific knee injury against Carlow in a Leinster SFC clash in May 2010.
The 29 year old is set to line out for Wicklow in the O'Byrne Cup against DCU on Sunday.
"My knee cap was pushed out of place," he explained to The Irish Daily Star. "I was taken on to Tullamore Hospital for an operation. They pinned my knee together. I was in a cast for 12 weeks, I was on crutches.
"There is a good bit of metal in there in my knee still. I tried to come back too early in 2011 and did further damage to my knee. I wondered if the knee was ever going to come right."
McWalter impressed Garden County manager Harry Murphy as he helped St Patrick's capture the Wicklow SFC title last year.
