Daly gets four weeks

December 11, 2012

Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly
Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly has been hit with a four-week ban.

The former Clare All-Ireland winning captain has been censured for his part in the ugly scenes that marred the end of this year's Clare MHC final between his club Clarecastle (for whom he was acting as a selector) and Kilmaley. Both clubs involved have also been fined €3,000.

New Kerry supremo Tommy Howard (who manages Clarecastle) has been suspended for eight weeks. Unlike Daly, his ban could impact on his tenure with the Kingdom.

Kilmaley's Niall Romer (already serving a 24-week ban) also got an eight-week ban, while Daly's fellow Clarecastle selector Stephen Sheedy is banned for four weeks.

The clubs and individuals were informed of their fate on Monday and have until Thursday to lodge appeals if they so wish.
