Former Leitrim manager Declan Rowley will manage top Westmeath club side St. Loman's in 2013.

One of the most respected coaches in the midlands, the Killoe Young Emmets clubman has enjoyed much success with the famous St. Mel's College football nursery in Longford. He managed Leitrim in the last decade and was also assistant to Luke Dempsey during his time in charge of Longford. Rowley managed Clonguish - the home club of Longford star Paul Barden - this year.

St. Loman's are hoping Rowley's appointment as successor to 1995 Westmeath All-Ireland winning minor centre back Kenny McKinley will yield a first Westmeath SFC title since the early 1960s in the coming season.

St. Loman's chairman Aidan Davitt said in the Westmeath Topic: "We're delighted that Declan Rowley has agreed to come on board. He has an extensive CV, having won several Leinster College titles with St.Mel's. He served a term as Leitrim manager and worked with Luke Dempsey while he was in Longford.

"He has huge experience."
