Dublin SFC final: Ballymun bridge 27 year gap
October 30, 2012

Ballymun Kickhams' Ted Furman and James McCarthy celebrate at the final whistle
BALLYMUN KICKHAMS 1-12
KILMACUD CROKES 0-14
Ballymun Kickhams withstood a late rally by Kilmacud Crokes to bridge a 27 year gap and claim the Dublin SFC title at Parnell Park last night.
Full-forward Dean Rock played an instrumental role for Paul Curran's charges and finished with seven points to his credit.
Rock opened the scoring and Ted Furman added a second point before Shane Forde's punched 8th minute goal boosted Ballymun to a 1-8 to 0-5 half-time lead.
Four unanswered points from Pat Burke after the resumption reduced the deficit to two but Rock steadied the Ballymun ship with a point in the 45th minute.
Jason Whelan sent over a brace to put some daylight between the teams but Ballymun supporters were left sweating when points from Kilmacud substitute Mark Vaughan (2) and Declan Kelliher left the bare minimum between the sides.
Ballymun's defence stood firm, however, and the Davy Byrne captained side held out for a memorable victory.
