Errigal Ciaran players celebrate their Tyrone SFC Final win at Healy Park, Omagh. INPHO
Errigal Ciaran 0-13
Dromore 0-8
Errigal Ciaran captured their first O'Neill Cup in six years following a surprise win over Dromore at Healy Park yesterday.
The Dunmoyle side outscored the favourites by 0-8 to 0-1 in a whirlwind finish to win with some style. Dromore's misery was compounded when Cathal McCarron was sent off on a straight red card in closing stages.
Dromore made all the early running, but could only manage a single point during the opening 10 minutes from their veteran county star Ryan McMenamin. Ronan McCrory brought Errigal level in the ninth minute and after Sean McDonnell and Bryan Horisk traded scores, they went on to lead by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break with Dromore going 18 minutes without a score.
Dromore looked the most likely winners after they grabbed the first four points of the second half, but with Davy and Peter Harte coming up from the back to land points, Errigal regained the upper hand and finished much the stronger to take the spoils.
