McDermott leaves Clare post

Former Clare football manager Michael McDermott
After leading Clare to a first Munster SFC final in 12-years, Micheal McDermott has decided to step down as manager.
The Kilmurray-Ibrickane man had served three years with the Banner and despite his efforts they failed to make it out of Division 4 of the Allianz FL. They were piped by Wicklow in the last league game of this season, with the Garden County going on to win the Division in a Croke Park final.
The Munster final ended in a resounding defeat to Cork, and next up was a similar reversal at the hands of Kerry in a round 4 qualifier.
But despite those final two results, 2012 will be remembered fondly for the stunning Munster semi-final win over Limerick which ended the wait since their last Munster final appearance in 2000 against Kerry.
