Funding recipients welcomed to Recipients Reception at Croke Park

Croke Park welcomed recipients of support from the Croke Park Community Fund to a reception with the new President of the GAA, Liam O'Neill, Stadium & Commercial Director, Peter McKenna and members of the fund committee including Chairman Finbarr Flood. The event was organised to recognise the work of groups within the local community with assistance from the Croke Park Community Fund.

The Croke Park Community Fund is an annual fund set up to help support community groups and projects by providing resources to help them make a positive impact in the local community. To date the fund has supported 114 groups and approved over €295,000 for local projects. The projects supported benefit a wide range of people in communities primarily within 1.5 kilometres of Croke Park.

Funds are intended to create or upgrade facilities, enhance services and facilitate local community activities and funding can be applied for by any bona fide community / voluntary / not for profit organisation for any initiative, project, programme or activity.

The GAA President extended his congratulations to the successful applications and lauded the work they do in the locality.

He said: "Fostering good relations with those who live in close proximity to Croke Park is very important to us and I think this scheme acknowledges the excellent work so many local people oversee that makes such a positive contribution to life in the area.

"We look forward to working with the Croke Park community through this fund in the months and years ahead."

The committee considers all completed applications submitted and also facilitates applicants who require assistance with their application. These projects can fall under a broad range of categories with the underlying criteria being that the majority of beneficiaries are from the local community. Categories include, but are not restricted to environmental improvements, school and education initiatives, facilities or services for local people, multi functioning community facilities, residents groups, community events and festivals.

All local projects are encouraged to apply to the fund with all application criteria available on the Croke Park website on www.crokepark.ie/about/community .
