Kilkenny's Cillian Buckley
Kilkenny's injury problems show no sign of abating after it was confirmed that rising star Cillian Buckley will be sidelined for at least four weeks.
The 20-year-old, who featured at midfield and centre forward during the triumphant Allianz League campaign, pulled a hamstring while playing for his club Dicksboro over the weekend. He was due to undergo a scan today to ascertain the full extent of the injury. But the early indications are that he will struggle to make it back in time for the Cats' Leinster SHC semi-final against either Dublin or Laois on June 23.
Even without Henry Shefflin, Michael Fennelly, Richie Power, JJ Delaney and Michael Rice, the All-Ireland champions were still able to dish out a 6-26 to 1-15 hammering to Offaly in a challenge match at Clara last night.
