Quinn plays down home advantage

Longford's Michael Quinn
Longford's former AFL star Michael Quinn doesn't think home advantage will count for much in Sunday's Leinster SFC opener against Laois.

Glenn Ryan's charges lifted the Allianz League Division 3 title on the back of an unbeaten spring campaign last month and are being to tipped by many to secure their first Leinster SFC win since 2007 at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park this weekend.

"Everyone is saying it will be a help being at home, but you have to perform and put in the work rate. Once we have that, hopefully the result will go our way. It's something we have looked at from the start of the year and hopefully we can carry that consistency," said the ex-Essendon Bombers player, who is still only 22.

"Longford football is improving and we have a good team and we're on the up. As one of the sides from a so-called weaker county, that's one of the main things, a mentality. It's probably our mentality that has changed. Belief is another."
