Westmeath's Denis Glennon under pressure from Michael Fanning of Louth during the 2010 Leinster SFC clash at Croke Park
Denis Glennon is confident of being fit for Westmeath's Leinster SFC first round meeting with Louth on Sunday.

The former captain hasn't trained since sustaining a back injury while playing for his club Tyrrellspass against Garrycastle in the opening round of the Westmeath SFC three weeks ago. But he is determined to line out against the Wee County.

"Even with your leg hanging off, you'd want to play for your county," said Glennon, who much will be expected of in the absence of Dessie Dolan.

"It's a huge opportunity for Westmeath - Louth have beaten us for the last few times and we have that at the back of our minds. We want to put that right.

"It's a very young team and a lot of players haven't played with each other before. At the same time, we're starting to get an idea of the runs certain players make. We are feeding into this system that Pat (Flanagan) has brought on board. It seems to be working, but the only thing that's been missing is in the away games in which we've had a lack of belief.

"We need to focus on the mental side of our game for Sunday and convince ourselves that we can win."
