Kildare hurling manager Willie Sunderland
Kildare manager Willie Sunderland admits he was impressed by his side's performance against Kerry.

The Lilywhites knocked out the defending champions and thus qualified for the quarterfinal of the Christy Ring Cup where they will play Meath for the third time this year.

Kildare have already won the previous two meetings between the sides and Sunderland admits that confidence in the camp is now high after last Saturday's win.

"They were excellent in the second half. I'm very happy for them," Sunderland exclaimed to the Kildare Nationalist.

"We were scrappy enough early on. Early on in the game we maybe could have gone a few more points down but we stuck in and by half time we were only one point down. I thought that gave us the impetus to go ahead in the second half. I think the team hurled nearly to their capacity. I think there's a bit more there."
