Dublin ladies boss drops big names

Dublin's Denise Masterson
Dublin ladies football manager Peter Clarke has caused a storm by leaving two of the county's star performers out of his championship squad.

Denise Masterson, who captained the Jackies to their first and so far only All-Ireland senior success in 2010, and Siobhan McGrath have been deemed surplus to requirements by the management. Both players are former All Stars and the decision to drop them hasn't gone down well with other members of the squad, The Irish Independent reports.

It's believed that Clarke released the pair last Friday night - a decision that could lead to other players withdrawing from the squad in protest. It remains to be seen if the controversy will hit the Jackies' bid for Leinster and All-Ireland honours in the coming months.
