Tyrone's Tommy McGuigan
Tyrone have suffered a setback following the news that Tommy McGuigan has withdrawn from the panel.
McGuigan faced a race against time to be fit for the Ulster championship opener against Armagh as ongoing knee problems hampered his comeback.
But, the Ardboe clubman revealed to Gaelic Life that he needs a lot more time to recuperate from the injury and has decided to withdraw from the squad for the time being.
"I rang Mickey on Tuesday afternoon. He knew I'd been struggling, because I had quit training for a month there to try and rest it up to see if it would settle," said McGuigan.
"I came back and trained for a week and a half, then played a league match for the club last weekend. I came home from that match and I honestly was barely able to walk. After every training session I was having to ice the knee for a few hours just to settle it, but Sunday was the final straw.
"That's the side of things that people don't see, what goes on when you get home and behind your own door. They only see what happens out on the pitch and judge you on that, but they often don't realise what you're actually putting yourself through."
