Twenty-four out of 68 boxes remain unoccupied and are currently up for sale
The GAA stands to lose €1 million a year after failing to sell 35 per cent of its corporate boxes at Croke Park.

Twenty-four out of 68 boxes remain unoccupied and are currently up for sale. By contrast, the IRFU has sold 95 per cent of their corporate boxes at the Aviva Stadium, but Croke Park stadium manager Peter McKenna is adamant that this has had no impact on sales at GAA headquarters.

"No, not at all," he insisted in the Irish Daily Star.

"I don't think there is any market impact from that. We both have very different types of customers and at box level bigger companies buying at this kind of level for corporate entertainment will probably buy in both.

"Diageo, for example, would have a box in Croke Park and the Aviva and there would be a number like that. There are a number of boxes up for sale and in the current climate it will be difficult. We are working our way through it. Anything that is very discretionary like a corporate box will be a difficult acquisition to make for a company."

A typical 33-person corporate box at Croke Park costs a company almost €50,000 per annum. Boxes, which were in huge demand during the Celtic Tigers years, can be bought for 10, three or one year terms.
