Cavan manager Val Andrews feels they are making progress, despite suffering a second defeat in the NFL.
Following on from the defeat to Wexford in the opening round of the league, Cavan once again lost out when Longford came out on top, but Andrews feels that they are still heading in the right direction.
"We have two weeks to build for the Sligo game and that's what we have to do. As a manager, we lost, take responsibility," Andrews stressed to the Anglo-Celt.
"I talked after we played Longford last June and it was 2-16 to 0-11. They kicked us off the field and we were a joke. We didn't compete; we lacked heart and all that.
"This time we played Longford and we lost. That's the same. But we lost by less, we certainly competed but we didn't compete for the 70 minutes. That's the job. Is there progress being made with the young fellas? Definitely yes. It might take longer than anticipated but we're here to start the ball rolling and that's where we're going."
