More knee ligament woe for Rebels

February 14, 2012

Cork's Paul Honohan
The curse strikes again; Paul Honohan is the latest Cork footballer to suffer knee ligament damage.

The Bishopstown attacker, who started the McGrath Cup final win over Tipperary earlier this year, picked up the injury during a training session at the Na Piarsaigh grounds last week.

The good news is that Honohan appears to have escaped with lateral ligament damage, rather than the cruciate problems incurred by his 2009 county U21 team-mates Colm O'Neill, Ciaran Sheehan and David Goold.

Manager Conor Counihan confirms in the Examiner: "We'll get a diagnosis during the week. It does look as if there's some ligament damage but we're confident that it isn't one of the more serious ones. It's been a rough couple of months that way but, look, hopefully we've seen the back of that."
