FBD League: Leitrim take the spoils

January 23, 2012
Leitrim recorded a 1-11 to 0-7 win over GMIT in an entertaining contest at Strokestown on Sunday.

Indeed, the county team could have won by a lot more had they taken their goal chances during the game, but Alan Wynne was the only player to raise a green flag.

The goal helped Leitrim to a 1-5 to 0-3 lead, but it was the students who looked more fluent in the early exchanges as Niall Prenty and Johnny Ryan gave them an early lead.

At the start of the second half, Ryan pointed to close the gap, but James Glancy lead the way in the scoring stakes as Leitrim ran out comfortable winners.
