Moloney eyes Kerry call-up

Mike Moloney in action for Kerry
Mike Moloney is hoping to force his way into Kerry manager Jack O'Connor's plan after returning for London.

The 24-year-old full back, who helped the Exiles to their first championship win in 34 years at Fermanagh's expense last summer, is returning home to start an 18-month post graduate course in UL at the end of this month. He will rejoin Dr Crokes for the coming year, though he won't be eligible for their All-Ireland club semi-final against Crossmaglen next month.

Moloney captained Kerry in their McGrath Cup opener against IT Tralee last year and is seen by many as the solution to the Kingdom's full back problem.

"I want to get back playing with the Crokes first and see how that goes. Whatever happens after that, we'll just take it as it comes," he said in the Irish Examiner.

Moloney believes his spell with Kingdom Kerry Gaels and London has made him a better player.

"I feel I have improved. The standard in London is fairly high. It's very competitive in London, the competitions are tough. It's a different type of game compared to back home, a bit more physical, but that is a good thing to bring into my game. You learn to adapt and it's made me an all-round better footballer."
