Ulster club JFC final: Rea strike buries Cremartin

November 28, 2011
Derrytresk (Tyrone) 2-5
Cremartin (Monaghan) 0-10

A 51st minute goal from Mickey Rea proved decisive as Tyrone champions Derrytresk edged to the Ulster club junior football championship title yesterday at the expense of Cremartin.

It was the Monaghan outfit that had opened the early lead at the Morgan Athletic Grounds through the points of Darren Bishop and substitute Chris Farrell, but they were dealt a major blow in the 27th minute when young Caolan Corr raced through their defence and smashed to the net, which saw the sides go in level at 1-2 to 0-5 come the break.

Cremartin would also be reduced to 14 men on the eve of half-time when midfielder Niall Flanagan picked up a second yellow card, but they weren't willing to throw in the towel as Bishop shot them into a two-point lead with 10 minutes left.

However, a minute later 33-year-old veteran Rea would all but secure the title for Derrytesk, who held on in the final minutes after he'd raised their second green flag.
