Bonner denies he snubbed Donegal

Donegal's Ciaran Bonnar
Ciaran Bonner has rubbished suggestions that he refused to play for Donegal this year.

The half forward hasn't play for Donegal since he was dropped from the panel for disciplinary reasons by former manager John Joe Doherty in 2009, but after helping his club Glenswilly to a first ever county SFC title last Sunday, he seemed open to the idea of representing his county again.

"It's always a privilege to play for your county," the 26-year-old said.

"Nobody is ever going to close the door on that until you're just not able to play any more. Despite what people said, I didn't get a phone call (from Jim McGuinness) this year. Everyone said I refused to play but that's not the case.

"I didn't get a phone call and to be quite honest I don't expect to get one this year. That is up to Jim McGuinness. There are fabulous footballers in this county."
