Carlow SHC: Myshall earn second chance
October 03, 2011

Naomh Eoin and Carlow keeper Frank Foley
Naomh Eoin scored the last three points to bring their Carlow SHC final against Mount Leinster Rangers to a replay at Dr Cullen Park yesterday.
Naomh Eoin 0-10
Mount Leinster Rangers 1-7
Rangers had one hand on the Willie O'Connor Cup before the Myshall side's late rally, which culminated in captain Dwain Maher's equalising point from a long-range free in stoppage-time, earned them another bite at the cherry.
Naomh Eoin were quickest to settle and had opened up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead before Mount Leinster Rangers began to find their rhythm. Myshall 'keeper Frank Foley made a brilliant save to deny Robbie Foley a goal in the 23rd minute, but the full forward made no mistake five minutes later when he drove a penalty to the net to give Rangers a 1-4 to 0-5 half-time lead.
Rangers continued to hold the upper hand for most of the second half, but with Brian 'Red' Murphy on song from frees, Naomh Eoin battled back to force a replay, which has been fixed for next Sunday.
Scorers - Mt Leinster Rangers: F Foley 1-0 (pen); D Murphy 0-2 (one free); E Coady, D Byrne, E Byrne, J Coady, D Phelan 0-1 each. Naomh Eoin: B Murphy 0-5 (frees); S Kavanagh, E Nolan (free), D Kavanagh (free); C McCabe, R Foley 0-1 each.
