Fermanagh SFC: Roslea retain crown

October 03, 2011

Roslea Shamrocks are seeking their third title in four years.
Seamus Quigley scored 1-8 as Roslea Shamrocks retained the Fermanagh SFC title at Teemore's expense in Brewster Park.

Roslea Shamrocks 1-10
Teemore 1-7

The big full forward was ultimately the difference between the sides with three of his points coming from play and his goal coming from a penalty. Roslea moved Barry Owens from midfield to full forward for the last 15 minutes and while the Fermanagh captain managed a fisted point, he couldn't save the day as Roslea - who had started the second half very strongly - held on for a three-point victory.

The challengers were the better side for much of the first half, with Damien Lee and Declan Fitzgerald having set up Gerry Quinlan for an early goal. John Fitzpatrick also landed three excellent points, but they were rocked just before the break when Seamus Quigley was adjudged to have been fouled by Ferghal Cleary for a penalty, and the number 14 made no mistake from the spot-kick.

Another of the Quigley brothers, half back Conor, followed up with Roslea's first point from play in the 31st minute and they took control early in the second half when the Sherry brothers, Peter and James, and Seamus Quigley, powered them to glory.
