Leinster U21 HC: Model stun Cats
June 08, 2011

Wexford's Matthew O'Hanlon and Thomas Breen of Kilkenny during the 2011 Leinster U21 HC quarter final at Wexford Park.
Wexford U21s scored a sensational 1-16 to 2-12 victory over Kilkenny at Wexford Park on Tuesday night.
This game had a thrilling climax when Emmet Kent knocked over a 61st-minute free to give the hosts the narrowest of wins.
All three goals arrived inside the opening 13 minutes.
Both teams were reduced to 14 men during an action-packed first half. Wexford's Michael O'Regan saw red after 20 minutes but Cats corner forward Ger Aylward was also off within six minutes.
The Model men were quickly up and running with four successive points before Aylward netted for the Noresiders. However, Wexford refused to panic and Paul Morris fired their goal in the eleventh minute.
Tomás Breen registered the Cats's second three-pointer but they still trailed by four at the interval, 1-11 to 2-4.
Liam Óg McGovern got Wexford's next score eleven minutes after the restart, by which time the Black & Amber had levelled.
It was nip and tuck all the way to the finish and, when Kilkenny substitute Michael Maloney pointed a minute from the end, extra time looked inevitable. However, Kent's injury-time free from 60 metres won the day for Wexford.
