May 13, 2011
The daughter of former GAA director-general Liam Mulvihill is to front Channel 4's coverage of next year's Paralympics after winning a TV talent search.
Twenty-nine-year Daraine Mulvihill, who had both legs amputated below the knee after she contracted meningitis when she was just 16, beat off competition from hundreds to win Channel 4's Half Million Quid Talent Search.
As well as fronting Channel 4's coverage of the 2012 Paralympics in London, she will also present the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester later this month for the station.
"I can't wait to get in front of the camera for Channel 4 at the BT Paralympic World Cup," said Daraine, who hails from Dunboyne, Co. Meath and was voted Irish Person of the Year in 2001.
