Antrim's Kevin McGourty
Kevin McGourty has conceded defeat in his battle to be fit for Antrim's Ulster SFC opener against Donegal on Sunday.
The St. Gall's clubman suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury in a recent challenge match against Mayo in Kiltimagh, and has ruled himself out of the Ballybofey fixture.
"There's no point in me playing in such an important game when I'm not even half-fit," he said in The Irish News.
"It's not fair either on the players that are fully fit and deserve to start ahead of me and it's not fair on 'Baker' (Liam Bradley) by telling him I'm fit when I'm not.
"It's a bit depressing but there's nothing I can do. I tried to train on Sunday and last 10 or 15 minutes. But we've some very good players to come in who can do a good job against Donegal, I've no doubt about that."
