An Offaly club player came close to hanging up his boots until new protective guard system came to the rescue.

That player was Anthony Foy and so taken was he with the Evoshield that he is now offering it to other players who are in a similar situation.

One of these players is Offaly hurling captain Shane Dooley, who highly recommends the Evoshield products.

This is Anthony's story:
"I suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs along with other injuries in a car accident a few years ago when I was almost 18," explained Anthony. "Before that I was playing gaelic football for my club and my county underage. It took me over a year to recover to a level where I could play again but I was always minding the injury as it was unprotected.

"I am 30 now and I'm still playing football on a regular basis with my local club and I have a great love for playing the game.

"Last year I came out the wrong end of a clash playing a football match and had to be brought to hospital. Xrays showed I had broken ribs again. After months of bone scans and consultations with some of the top sports doctors in Ireland I was told my rib had healed wrong and there was a gap left in the bone.

"They considered operating but it was so close to the lung they advised against it. They suggested that I take some nerve pain injections and retire early from football. I went in search for a rib guard, all the rib guards out there are either too soft, too bulky or not supportive enough for my injury."

At that point, close to putting a nail through his boots, Anthony discovers Evoshield.
