The Navan O'Mahony's team that won the Meath SFC back in 1985.

A native of Ballyforan, just on the Roscommon side of the Galway border, he donned the Rossies jersey in hurling before going on to represent his adopted county of Meath as a dual player in the early 1980s.
He won his first Meath senior county medal in 1979, when he helped Navan O'Mahony's to victory over Summerhill in the decider, and that day was to be a particularly special occasion for Ben as he was also crowned the first winner of the county senior football final Man of the Match award.
Five years later he was part of the Meath side which lifted the one-off Centenary Cup competition by defeating Monaghan in the final at Croke Park in May 1984.
The silverware kept on coming and the following year he would join an elite band of players to win senior football and hurling titles in the same year when O'Mahony's completed a rare double.
Ben Tansey was a popular figure around the Navan area, where he served as a member of the Garda Siochana for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife Kitty, sons Paul and Bernard and daughter Ann-Marie as well as his mother Kathleen, brothers Michael and Liam and sisters Agnes, Anne and Frances.
Funeral Mass took place at midday today (Monday) at St Mary's Church, Navan followed by cremation at Glasnevin Crematorium. Donations if desired to the Intensive Care Unit at Navan Hospital.
