"Addicted" O'Sullivan happy to be back

Kerry's Tom O'Sullivan
Kerry star Tom O'Sullivan is delighted to be back in action - although he admits he was on the brink of bringing an end to his inter-county career.

O'Sullivan, who has helped the Kingdom to five All-Ireland victories during his career, made his return as a second half substitute against Galway last Sunday.

It marked the end of an uncertain winter for the Rathmore clubman, who was given an ultimatum by manager Jack O'Connor last month.

And while he concedes that he contemplated his future, he says that the lure of the Kerry jersey proved impossible to ignore.

He said, "I was touch and go for a while, alright. It could have gone either way at one point. I needed a break from it.

"I needed those few weeks away from it all. It was all about getting the hunger back. You need to have hunger when you are playing with Kerry.

"There are enough guys trying to get into a Kerry jersey, so it wouldn't make sense if I walked away from that when I am still able to offer something. It's nearly like an addiction at this stage, playing for Kerry. You can't do without it."
