Tipperary referee Johnny Ryan consults his umpires during the 2010 Munster SHC final
GAA umpires are expected to be handed new uniforms ahead of the 2011 Championship season, with the famous white coats to no longer form a part of the Sunday ritual.
White coats have long been associated with the goalmouth officials but according to a line in Tuesday's Irish Independent, it appears that the attire will not be seen in Championship action from this year on.
New referee's attire will be unveiled at Croke Park today (Tuesday) and while uniforms for umpires has not yet been fully determined, a novel look is expected to be ratified.
That could see umpires take on a look familiar from International Rules games between Ireland and Australia, which is modelled on the Aussie Rules umpire image.
