The Tesco Ladies Football All Ireland Club Championships get underway in earnest this weekend with a host of matches taking place across the country.

2008 champions Mayo's Carnacon are back in search of their fourth senior All Ireland title. Two time losing finalists Inch Rovers of Cork also return to the All Ireland series play-offs while Termon from Donegal are vying to become the first team from Tir Connaill to claim the senior title. Also competing for honours in this year's senior club championships are Leinster champs Timahoe of Laois.

All four teams have a large number of inter county stars among their ranks with giants of the ladies game such as five time All Ireland winner Angela Walsh of Cork, two time golden boot winner Cora Staunton of Mayo, 2010 All Ireland Intermediate winner Termon's Roisin McClafferty and Senior All Ireland winner Angela Casey from Laois all lining out for their respective clubs.

In the Tesco Intermediate All Ireland Club Championship semi-finals are St Patricks Dromahair (Leitrim), St Gall's (Antrim), St Conleth's (Laois) and West Clare Gaels (Clare). None of these teams have won an All Ireland Intermediate title before so there will be a new name on the cup this year.

Competing in the Tesco All Ireland Junior Club Championship semi-finals are Caltra Cuans (Galway), St Enda's (Tyrone), Edenderry (Offaly) and Moyle Rovers (Tipperary).

Helen O'Rourke, CEO for Ladies Football commented, "The Club Championships provide a high level of football where the county stars of the future can develop and hone their skills. The support of Tesco for our All Ireland club championship series is invaluable as it enables us to promote our club game across the length and breadth of the country."

John Prendergast, Head of Trade Planning and Local Marketing, Tesco Ireland, commented, "We are delighted to once again sponsor the All Ireland Club Championships. It is a sponsorship that is very important for Tesco embracing many things that are relevant to us as a business such as supporting local communities as well as promoting healthier lifestyles for customers. This year we have introduced community champions to a number of our stores who will be instrumental in supporting their local clubs at grass roots level. Finally, I would also like to wish the very best of luck to all of the teams participating in this weekend's semi finals."
