Nicky Joyce and his cousins Padraic and Tommy combined to dash Corofin's hopes of first ever three-in-a-row of Galway SFC titles as Killererin reigned supreme at Pearse Stadium yesterday.

Nicky bagged 1-5 in a man of the match display, Padraic directed operations from centre forward, while Tommie was player/manager for an impressive Killererin team who claimed their sixth county title and fourth since 1999.

Killererin laid the foundations for their success in the first half when they led by 1-5 to 1-2 at the break, having played against the wind. The opening score from play didn't arrive until the 19th minute when Mike Farragher, who top-scored for Corofin with 1-3, pointed.

Nicky Joyce replied to make it 0-4 to 0-2 in Killererin's favour before Joe Canney set up Farragher for the opening goal in the 26th minute. But Corofin's joy was shortlived as Joyce fisted home Ger Butler's centre a minute later and Jonathan Keane tagged on a quick point to give them a three-point cushion at the break.

The champions resumed with four unanswered points from Farragher (two), Thomas Costello and Alan O'Donovan to lead by the 38th minute and they continued to lead until the final five minutes when unanswered points from Ger Butler, Nicky Joyce (two) and Padraic Joyce gave Killererin the title.
