The Finals - the greatest All-Ireland hurling finals
September 02, 2010
As hurling fever gets into full swing this weekend, the Irish Independent - Ireland's best selling daily newspaper - will tomorrow (Friday, 3rd September 2010) publish a FREE 16 page special supplement entitled ''The Finals' - The Greatest All Ireland Hurling Finals' taking a look back at some of hurling's most heroic clashes over the years along with pre-game analysis by Martin Breheny.
According to Irish Independent GAA correspondent, Martin Breheny, "If this year's All Ireland Hurling Final is half as good as last year's, then supporters have plenty to look forward to. Kilkenny and Tipperary served up a cracking contest 12 months ago and with both teams working their way back into the mix, this year's decider has all the ingredients of being another thriller."
While this weekend's final will make for epic viewing, don't miss this special supplement where the Irish Independent sports team take a look back at some of the greatest hurling finals of all time. Martin Breheny reflects on the big matches and big stars, which have shaped the modern game - from the legendary 1939 'thunder and lightning' encounter between Cork and Kilkenny up to the 2009 epic.
With attention soon turning to the 2010 All Ireland Football Championship, the Irish Independent will also publish a special football supplement FREE with all purchases of the newspaper on Friday, 17th September 2010.
