Meredith boost for McNulty

Former Laois minor star Conor Meredith
Justin McNulty has received his first boost as new Laois boss with the news that former minor star Conor Meredith looks poised for a return home.

Meredith has been released by AFL club North Melbourne after the Kangaroos confirmed that they would not be renewing the 21-year-old's two-year rookie contract, with a statement on the club's website reading: "The club wishes Conor the best for the future and thanks him for his services."

A return home for Meredith would be welcomed by Laois supporters, many of whom watched the O'Dempsey's ace score three goals in the O'Moore County's two-point victory over Carlow in the 2007 Leinster Minor Football Championship final.
