Galway's Shane Kavanagh
Shane Kavanagh will captain Galway's hurlers through their All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship campaign.
The Kinvara defender led the Tribesmen through their National League campaign this season and is now set to skipper them in their second bud to claim a historic Leinster championship crown.
The 26-year-old takes over the role from Portumna's Ollie Canning, who will be acting as vice-captain this year.
Kavanagh has already lifted the Walsh Cup this year for John McIntyre's charges and will be hoping to get his hands on the county's ninth NHL title when they take on Cork at Croke Park next month.
Meanwhile, Galway football boss Joe Kernan is set to name his captain for the championship after his team play their opening preliminary round a game away to New York next month, with Michael Meehan and Sean Armstrong the two favourites to take the armband.
