MacLarnon Cup: Lurgan in seventh heaven

March 18, 2010
St. Michael's, Lurgan captured their seventh BT MacLarnon Cup title at Casement Park yesterday following a comfortable victory over Armagh rivals St. Patrick's, Keady.

St. Michael's, Lurgan 1-13
St. Patrick's, Keady 0-8

Bridging a seven-year gap since their last success, Lurgan never looked back after Chris McGaughney and Niall McConville combined to set up Thomas McAlinden for the only goal early in the second half.

Keady were well in contention at half-time, having come back from 0-2 to 0-5 down to equalise in injury-time. But after McAliden scored the only goal in the 32nd minute, Lurgan hit four points in as many minutes from Barry Seely, Niall McConville, Niall McCann and Christopher McGuaghey to establish a 1-10 to 0-6 lead, and there was no way back for Keady after that.
