Laois star MJ Tierney stresses that the main reason for his switch to Dublin club Parnells was work related.
The Coolock based outfit have promised to find the talented forward work in his chosen area of Public Relations, which he studied in Carlow IT.
Parnells have come in for some criticism as they now have four Laois players on their books, but Tierney has defended his decision to move to the capital.
"It took a while to make the decision, I didn't want to leave but I've been looking for work for 18 months and it has been proving tough to get something," said Tierney.
"I was going to be moving to Dublin anyway and Parnells are giving me a hand finding a job. One thing I'm happy about is that I won't be wasting my degree, I did PR in Carlow and I'm doing a Post Grad in Business Management and I didn't want to do something in coaching, I wanted to work in sales or marketing and it's too hard to get something in that down here."
The Ballyroan clubman was wholesome in his praise for his club, who he revealed have given him their blessing to make the switch to the capital.
"I'm sorry to leave Ballyroan and I'm extremely grateful to everyone there. I think it's very commendable the way they have reacted to this. I think a lot of people see that I have no other choice, and I would like to come back sometime in the future."
