Houlihan leaves Limerick squad

Limerick's Timmy Houlihan
The Limerick hurling row took its latest twist yesterday when goalkeeper Timmy Houlihan announced his withdrawal from the Treaty County's 2010 National Hurling League panel.

Houlihan had been included in the 33-man panel which manager Justin McCarthy named on Thursday, but the Adare net-minder has since made himself unavailable for selection by Limerick for the foreseeable future.

The news comes after this week's Limerick county board meeting, where it was decided to seek mediators from Croke Park to try and resolve the ongoing issue between the players and team management, which has lasted almost five months now.

Houlihan was apart of the Limerick Under 21 side which won a famous three-in-a-row of All-Ireland titles from 2000 to 2002, captaining the Shannonsiders to their 2001 victory.
