Leitrim manager Mickey Moran has been dealt a huge blow ahead of the start of the league campaign following the news that star forward Declan Maxwell is out injured for at least four months.

Maxwell is set to miss the entire league campaign through injury and this will be a huge blow to the Connacht side's chances of gaining promotion.

"Declan Maxwell has to get an operation and he going to be out for up to 18 weeks according to medical opinion which is a huge loss," said Moran.

The Drumreilly clubman has suffered his fair share of serious injury, but he has always bounced back and Leitrim fans will be hoping that he can do the same again in time for the Connacht championship. Tweet
